Residents and nearby businesses are being urged to keep their windows and doors closed after a fire broke out at a commercial building on Glebelands Road in Sale. Emergency services arrived at the blaze after 1pm this afternoon (9th May).
The road is currently closed off between the A56 Cross Street and Gordon Avenue, with fire crews in attendance alongside police. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) have said as many as 25 firefighters have been dealing with the incident.
A cordon remains in place with officers keeping members of the public away from the scene. It is understood that there have been no injuries as a result of the fire.
A spokesperson for GMFRS said “Six fire engines and two aerial appliances were mobilised to the scene, and crews wearing breathing apparatus have worked hard to contain the fire and prevent further spread.
“Firefighters are currently damping down any remaining hotspots. Road closures remain in place around the scene, and residents in the vicinity are advised to keep windows and doors closed and avoid the area while crews carry out their work.”
Details about the cause of the fire are yet to be confirmed.
