Residents to be consulted for a third time over 3G football pitch proposals

Crossford Bridge playing fields, Sale

Proposals for an all-weather 3G (artificial turf) football pitch at the Crossford Bridge site in Sale will be discussed at a residents’ consultation.

Trafford Council is continuing to work in partnership with the Crossford Bridge Management Association (CBMA) to improve the facilities at the site and is consulting with local people for the third time to gather their opinions.

The CBMA are keen to look at the idea of installing the full-size fenced-off pitch on the furthest site away from homes at the top of the site near the M60 motorway on the pitch currently used by Old Altrinchamians FC.

Trafford Council is in discussion with the CBMA and the Football Foundation over the proposals and is keen to keep in consultation with local residents and business owners to see what they think.

Following two previous consultations, a further face-to-face consultation will take place with residents at Crossford Bridge on Thursday 7th July from 6.30pm-8pm. The event is a drop-in event and residents are encouraged to attend the event at any time to discuss the proposal with representatives from CBMA and Trafford Council.

Residents can also give their views via an online consultation from 8th – 17th July.

Councillor Jo Harding, Trafford Council’s executive member for culture, leisure and strategic partnerships said: “The Council has been in close consultation with the CBMA on the proposals and we are now seeking the views of the local residents for the third time.

“We want to know exactly what you as residents think and we will of course take every view into account when coming to our decisions. Residents can always be assured that they will be consulted with at every step as we continue discussions surrounding these proposals. We want as many residents as possible to provide us with their views on this proposed application.”

The Council also wants to protect the site through a Fields in Trust ‘Deed of Dedication’ and will be providing a long-term lease for Crossford Bridge meaning it is protected.

A spokesperson from the CBMA said: “‘The CBMA are keen to continue our close relationship with local residents and the community and want to hear your thoughts and questions on this potential project.

“We are working hard to create improved facilities for all on the site whilst also ensuring the protection of the much loved and needed green space by working with Fields In Trust to protect the site in perpetuity.”
