Towards the top of Hope Road in Sale, at the Northenden Road end, you would be forgiven for having never noticed the inconspicuous brick building just off the main thoroughfare. Over the past month, the inside of the building has started to take on a new life, thanks to the imminent opening of Krafthaus Studio & Store – a new creative hub, studio and gift shop.

Ahead of its grand opening this Saturday (16th July), we caught up with Holly Ramsay, owner of Krafthaus Studio & Store, for a quick chat and a look around.

When asked about her plans for the new place, Holly said: “My vision is for the space to be half workshop, half store for customers to pop in and buy from. This change of studio will give me the opportunity to expand my product lines and hopefully I can build a strong network here.”

“I’ve been working on my homeware brand, The Neighbourhood Threat, at Islington Mill in Salford since 2017 and that’s been my base. However, I’ve been a stall holder at Sale Makers Market since it started in 2019, so I feel like I know the area.

“I’ve seen the regeneration of Sale since then and recently I’ve been looking for a space to combine my studio and ideally a shop area. When this unit came up in Sale, I came to have a look and thought it looked cute, so I went for it! I picked up the keys on 13th June and I’ve been working non-stop to get it ready for opening as soon as possible. Now we’re only a couple of days from opening and I’m so excited!”

Holly will stock her own kitchenware products at Krafthaus, plus those of fellow creatives and makers from in and around Manchester.

In the future, Holly hopes to build a creative network at the studio and intends to involve more makers to host various craft workshops and teach new skills, such as candle and pottery making.

During our visit to Krafthaus, it’s clear that the vibe of the new shop is going to be sophisticated and cool. It has the potential to become a thriving hub of creativity – something Sale deserves at this point in its evolution.
