Trafford police officers detained and charged a 35-year-old man with possession of an offensive weapon and aggravated burglary following an incident that took place on Sunday 14th August in Altrincham.

Jason Edwards from Marthall Drive, Sale was arrested in the early hours of Monday morning (15th August). He was detained in police custody and has since been charged with the offence.

The investigation was launched by Trafford Criminal Investigation Department following reports that a man concealing a bladed weapon had gone to an address in Lloyd Gardens, Altrincham.

The victim reported that the man had knocked on the door and, when her friend opened it, he had entered her property brandishing the weapon and demanding to speak to the homeowner. He left when it became apparent the person he was seeking wasn’t in.

Edwards is set to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates court today (17th August).
