Inspectors praise Sale care home and say residents “feel safe”

Our Place residents and staff

A care home in Sale has been praised by inspectors.

Our Place, which was bought by Trafford Council in March 2021 with care provided by Making Space, was inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and rated as ‘Good’ across the board.

The report highlighted high-quality care, with staff making sure residents were well looked after.

Councillor Karina Carter, Executive Member for Adult Services, said: “This is fantastic news. We bought this care home so that residents would receive excellent care in the borough and this is what is happening.

“It is so important that people are treated with dignity and that their needs are met. This is what is taking place at our care home and is testament to the amazing staff we have at Our Place.”

Inspectors noted that everyone they spoke to was happy living at Our Place, with one resident saying: “The staff are more like friends.”

Staff were also praised for being caring, kind and respectful. Inspectors noted that residents were supported with activities, such as karaoke. Residents were encouraged to be as independent as possible.

The management of Our Place was highlighted too for making sure residents were safe, well looked after and had their needs catered for.

Rachel Peacock, CEO at Making Space, said: “We are incredibly proud of the staff team at Our Place following their recent CQC inspection. To achieve ‘Good’ in all key lines of enquiry is a brilliant achievement, particularly given the ongoing challenges we continue to face in the care sector.

“The team are all incredibly committed and enthusiastic, and each team member takes the time to get to know each of our residents individually, always striving to meet their needs in a person-centred way. Their kind-hearted and tailor-made approach to care and support, alongside great leadership from registered manager Vicky has led to this fantastic recognition.

“Our next goal will be to build on the valuable feedback from inspectors, embrace new ideas and ultimately become the best care home we can be for the people we support.”
