Today sees the start of the third annual Sale Arts Trail  – a weekend where local artists and craftsmen and women get to show off their designs and products and some of the town’s independent cafes open their doors to serve up meals and refreshments.

The idea is that visitors use a map, which is available throughout the town,  to follow the route which will take them to the 20 venues along the way.

More than 50 artists and designers will take part.  There will be 12 open studios, one art barge, five cafes, one art market all displaying a variety of artefacts, jewellery, paintings, clothing and even designer hats all made by people from Trafford and the surrounding areas.  The cafes taking part are Amphora, Serendipitea, Bianco,  Bean and Brush and Fresh Filling.

New this year will be demonstrations by some of those taking part aswell as an art market based in the Sale Masonic Hall.   The whole event will be captured by Manchester’s Urban Sketchers who can be found on Twitter as @MCR_UrbanSketch who will be drawing their way around the whole trail.

The organisers want the event to be fully documented by  those walking the trail. They are asking people to take photos of themselves with the Trail map and any of the pieces they have bought along the way.  All comments and highlights can be posted on social media with the hashtags﹟SaleArtsTrail; ﹟SAT2016; ﹟SATweekend and ﹟trailsale.
