New Sale hotel opening today is just the job for locals

A sign of the times – perhaps, but a new Sale hotel opening today, received 250 application for just 16 jobs.

All vacancies for the Travelodge Cross Street hotel – which opened today – have now been filled by local people.

The 67-room Sale Travelodge is being managed by Briony Donnelly, who has been searching for Trafford residents to help create a team of colleagues – covering roles such as: assistant hotel manager, receptionist, Bar Café team members, a housekeeper and guest room cleaners.

Born and raised in Sale, Briony has been working in the hotel industry for over 14 years.

Briony said: “I am absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to manage a brand new hotel in the heart of Sale. The area is very close to my heart.

“We are currently working around the clock to get the hotel ready and I am very excited to be working with my new team, who are currently being trained across our 18 Manchester Travelodge hotels.

“We had 250 people apply for the 16 positions, which is an astronomical amount of applications.

“I was looking for applicants who are as passionate as us about helping people and delivering great customer service. I worked with the local Job Centre to help fill the positions and some of my team members were previously long term unemployed.” “At Travelodge, we are passionate about developing our team members and we have hundreds of people who have joined the company from an entry level job and are now in a management and executive role.”

WALTON PARK WIMPY MEMORIAL: A new war memorial has been unveiled in Walton Park, to commemorate the aircrew who crash-landed there on the third of August 1943, killing two Australian airmen.

The memorial reads:
