When we first reported that Alfie the Jack Russell terrier was missing from his home in Sale after being spooked by a firework, we all hoped that he would be found straight away.
But a month after that moment in the run up to Bonfire Night when he ran away, there is no further news about him but his family refuse to give up hope.

Through sites like Sale Today the search for Alfie has grown and grown and now television reporters and presenters are among those tweeting and re-tweeting about him.
There had been some initial sitings in the two weeks after he went missing. Those were in Partington and there was one case of him being seen in a park in Hale near Altrincham.
The Collier family from Sale have repeatedly thanked those who have been out looking for their pet all hours of the day and night. In particular they thanked strangers who had joined the search and had mounted their own unofficial campaigns on social media.
Now there is to be an awareness walk for Alfie at Sale Water Park on Sunday December 11th at 1100. An event page has been set up for those wanting to know more details.

The page is hosted by Jack Collier who says they intend to walk around Sale/Chorlton waterpark to help get media attention and raise awareness for Alfie. “We will be meeting at the boathouse restaurant car park for ease to those travelling and will aim to start the walk at 1100.” he said.
“The more participants we have the more likely we are to get the media coverage so please attend if you can! Dogs are, of course welcome, however I would ask that they are kept on leads.”
He goes on to say:”Thank you all for your continued help and support. If you have any questions please let me know and I hope to see you all on the 11th.
Please note I will not be able to take any responsibility for any risks involved in the walk.”

WALTON PARK WIMPY MEMORIAL: A new war memorial has been unveiled in Walton Park, to commemorate the aircrew who crash-landed there on the third of August 1943, killing two Australian airmen.
The memorial reads:
