Handbags and gladrags….found dumped in Ashton and Mersey

Police are baffled by the discovery of a large amount of handbags found dumped in Ashton on Mersey.

They appear to be brand new – one theory is that were part of a haul of designer bags stolen from the John Lewis Cheadle store earlier this week, or from a burglary from a shop on Washway Road in Sale.

A GMP spokesman said:”Does anyone have any information about these? We don’t believe them to be from different burglaries as a lot of them look brand new. Some costume jewellery was also found with the bags.

“Please message us on our Trafford South Facebook page or call us on 0161 856 7530 if you have any information, thanks.”

Police declined to say where they were found and whether they were stolen.

For the moment whoever dumped them is escaping GMP ‘clutches’.
