Sale Moor’s community centre maybe some way from an Italian village hall in a balmy summer, but it will serve as the venue for the showing of one of the most iconic Oscar winning films, this weekend
Cinema Paradiso which tells the story of a filmmaker recalling his childhood, when he fell in love with the movies at his village’s theatre forming a deep friendship with the projectionist, has been chosen for the We Are Sale Moor’s first pop up cinema event.
The group bid for money from the Sale Locality Partnership’s ‘ Make Sale Smile’ Voluntary Sector Grant scheme last year. The neighbourhood forum group was among those who were awarded a grant. They applied for and were given a grant of £1500 to go towards a community Pop-up cinema event.
Doors open at 7 pm on Saturday at the Centre on Norris Road and the film starts at 7.30 pm. The minimum age for anyone allowed entry is 12 years and above.
It’s free to watch but it is a ticketed event, and they are going fast. The maximum number of people who can watch is 120. The organisers are asking anyone who finds they can’t go after acquiring a ticket, to let them know so someone else can have the chance. There could still be some tickets available on the night.
Said Christine Houlding of We Are Sale Moor:” We hope it will be a success and if there is a demand for it, then we’d like to arrange more in the future .”
