[dropcap type (circles)]Google’s Digital Garage bus project will be offering free courses to the public to enhance their online skills next Monday at Sainsbury’s car park.
This is part of Google’s attempts to provide everyone with a working knowledge of the internet and how to use social media.
The bus has been touring Greater Manchester, visiting over 30 locations in the region between January and the end of March.
The Google team are equipped with all the latest technology, alongside expert trainers, and will provide an accessible way for people to learn how to improve their digital skills. Visitors to the bus will be able to join courses on how to build a CV, social media strategy, and other areas to improve their digital skills.
‘The project is part of Google’s commitment to provide free digital skills training to everyone across the UK. The bus will be visiting organisations in the Online Centres Network who already provide a range of support to help their communities to embrace the benefits of digital.
‘The courses are:-
10am-11am Stay Safe Online,(The common threats online today and how to avoid them – How to stay safe when you’re internet shopping or online banking – Managing different accounts, passwords and family controls securely)
12pm-2pm First Steps Online (Learn how to turn on and use a computer, tablet or smartphone and access the internet – Learn how to set-up an email address – Learn the basics of how to use a search engine, find places and directions using online maps and access useful websites.)
3pm-4pm Build a CV (The key components of a great CV – Understand how to define your skills and make them shine on a CV – Layout and design basics to help make your CV stand out from the crowd.
”We also do mentoring on anything for anyone on digital from how to use a smartphone to help small businesses expand their digital footprint. And this is all free,” says a Google spokesman.
