A ninety-four year old man is still fighting for his life after being attacked by robbers in his Sale home

Police  say the 94-year-old man attacked in his home in Priory Close remains in a critical condition in hospital.

The man received a life-threatening brain injury. He was hit in the face and  shoved to the ground in his own home during a robbery. The men stole from a jar the man keeps to pay for the parking at his local hospital.

The incident happened at around 4am on Sunday 22 May 2016, when two men forced their way into a property on Priory Close in Sale and began searching the place.

A GMP spokesman said:”The man remains in a critical condition.

‘The man was sleeping and heard the commotion before going to investigate, at which point one of the offenders grabbed him and hit him in the face.

“The victim was then pushed to the ground where he was held down by the man whilst the other intruder continued to search the address.

“The offenders then rifled through the occupant’s living room before running from the address, leaving the victim on the floor. ”

Both offenders are described as white men wearing dark blue coats and gloves. One was around 5ft 7in and the second approximately 5ft 9in.

PC Martin Hill of GMP’s Trafford Borough said: “This was an awful robbery of a man in his own home, which is a place where a person should feel the safest.

“The victim was left all alone injured and in shock on the floor by the two offenders.

“They did not give the condition of their victim a second thought, only caring about what they could get their hands on.

“Given the timing of the incident, it is possible that people may have heard a disturbance taking place before seeing the offenders flee the scene.

“I would like to urge anybody with information to please come forward and contact police.”
