Two Sale residents have turned a casual idea over drinks into reality to provide local businesses with the chance to meet at a new networking event planned in the town centre.

Founded by friends Lucy Newman and Somerset Smith, ‘Sale Speaks!’ aims to bring together local businesses in Sale for an evening of delicious food, relaxed conversation and inspiring stories from local business owners.

We caught up with Lucy for more details.

“Somerset and I were just catching up at FoodHall in Stanley Square over a bottle of wine and we got talking about networking events and how great it would be if there was an event for local business people in Sale to connect with each other. We spotted a gap in the market and that’s how Sale Speaks was born.”

The first Sale Speaks networking event is scheduled for Monday 11th July and will take place at Roti Food & Liquor in Stanley Square.

Sale Speaks: A new networking event coming to town

“Sale is in the midst of a huge regeneration project, with so many new and wonderful independent businesses opening up. We thought what a perfect time to launch a networking event like Sale Speaks!” continued Lucy.

The pair, who hope that this launch event will spark further networking opportunities in the future, have a panel of local business owners speaking at the event.

“We have three local business owners speaking at the event who will share their stories, experiences, the ups, downs, highs and lows of their business journey so far.”

“We hope that our attendees will enjoy connecting with like-minded people and learning from each other’s experiences. Sale has such an amazing community vibe and we hope to create that same feeling at our event.”

As Sale residents, the pair have witnessed the extensive changes that the town has gone through in recent months. So what do they think of it?

Lucy said: “We love that Sale is going through a regeneration. You do hear whisperings of negativity online, but we think the changes are nothing but positive for the area. We’re extremely proud to say we live in Sale and are proud of its evolution.”

Tickets are available now for the first Sale Speaks events on 11th July and cost £16.76.
