How bin collection and other Trafford Council services will be affected by the Queen’s funeral

Trafford Council will be running reduced services on Monday (19th September) as the Queen is laid to rest in a state funeral.

The day has been designated a bank holiday, with the funeral taking place at Westminster Abbey from 11am and a two-minute silence scheduled across the country at midday.

Trafford Council’s offices will be closed on the day, as will council-operated libraries and leisure centres.

The waste recycling centre on Chester Road will however be open, and bin collections are also due to take place.

However, residents are being asked to put their bins out on Sunday night as the crews are aiming to have finished their rounds before the start of the funeral, in order to avoid disruption.

Any crews unable to finish their round by then will temporarily pause their collections from 11.45am to 12.15pm so that they can observe the two-minute silence.

Council offices will reopen on Tuesday 20th September.

Books of condolence will not be available for signing on the day of the Queen’s funeral but will be available again for a final day on Tuesday 20th September, at Trafford Town Hall, Sale Waterside and Altrincham Town Hall.
