Fiver Fest returns to Sale: A chance to support your local independent shops and makers

Sale Fiver Fest

A two-week-long event which sees shops put on special £5 offers is set to return next month.

Residents and visitors alike can get some £5 bargains in the Totally Locally Fiver Fest coming back to Sale from 8th-22nd October.

In recent years, Sale has seen an increase in independent businesses, with the development of independent community hub Emporium M33 and the ongoing regeneration of Stanley Square. After an extremely tough couple of years (especially for small businesses), campaigns such as Fiver Fest help to show community support for local businesses – many of which we would miss if they weren’t here.

Sale’s Fiver Fest is once again being organised by Claire Hines, owner of Shine, a gift shop based in Emporium M33. The campaign has previously created a real buzz around town and has helped local shoppers to find shops they may not have otherwise visited.

Fiver Fest returns to Sale from 8th-22nd October 2022

At previous Fiver Fest events, offers have been varied; from £5 book bargains to £5 lunch deals, the community has really got behind the campaign. If you are looking to pick up some gifts for Christmas, this autumn Fiver Fest is the ideal opportunity to grab a bargain or two ahead of the festive season.

Who is taking part in Fiver Fest?

Des Gillan, owner of Willow Goat Crafts based inside Emporium M33, has taken part in past Fiver Fest campaigns and is an advocate of the campaign:

“Fiver Fest is great. It’s an affordable promotion that enables people to get a bargain and support local businesses. I’ve even met people who have put a certain amount to one side so they can buy five or six items from different participants.”

“Fiver Fest allows people to shop locally and find out more about what is available from independents in the area. In the past, it’s been great to meet people and chat about what is important to them when buying gifts etc. Local, environmentally sustainable and value for money are top of people’s list. Fiver Fest gives people the chance to get a little taster of local, independent retailers.”

“Think of it almost as a treasure hunt for adults! People can find out who is involved and then track them down around Sale town centre.”

Runs 8th-2nd October 2022.

💭 Thought bubble: Supporting and keeping local businesses here in Sale makes the whole town better. If you spend just £5 per week in our independent shops and businesses, it would mean so much more money going directly into our local economy. The simple fact is: your £5 spend really does matter!
